Alan S. Fine

Mr. Fine served as Florida Circuit Judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit from 2013 until 2023 in the Juvenile Division, the Criminal Division, the Civil Division and the Complex Business Litigation Division. Before joining the bench, Mr. Fine was in private practice in Miami-Dade County for twenty-nine years specializing in domestic and international commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to starting in private practice in 1984, Mr. Fine served as Law Clerk to Sidney Aronovitz, United States District Judge.

Community

Judge Fine served on the Board of Directors of The Children's Trust 2015-16. He also served on the Board of Directors, including as General Counsel, for Temple Beth Am for eight years. Additionally, Judge Fine also enjoyed coaching 16 recreational basketball teams and managing a travel basketball team for 3 years.

Awards

Judge Fine was recognized by the Spellman-Hoeveler Inns of Court with the Chief Justice John Jay Judicial Leadership Award in 2022 and by Miami Jewish Legal Society with the Shofetz Tzedek award in 2019.

Rudy Sorondo

Mr. Sorondo served as a Florida Circuit Judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit from 1992 until he was elevated to serve as Florida Appellate Judge in the Third District Court of Appeal in 1997. Before joining the bench, Mr. Sorondo was an Assistant State Attorney in Miami and then represented private clients until 1992. Mr. Sorondo left the bench in 2002 to lead the appellate practice at Holland & Knight’ Miami Office. In addition to handling state and federal appeals and trial support for the last twenty years, he has served as an arbitrator as well as a mediator and special master in cases in state and federal courts.

Community

In addition to his judicial duties during his tenure on the bench, Mr. Sorondo dedicated a considerable amount of time to teaching. He served as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami’s College of Law teaching litigation skills from 1995 to 2007. He has also served as a faculty member for the College of Advanced Judicial Studies, and the Conferences of Circuit and County Judges where he has lectured on a number of issues. Finally, he has served as an instructor at the National College of District Attorneys in Columbia, South Carolina on the subject of appellate advocacy, and at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado. Since his return to private practice, Mr. Sorondo has been invited back to teach at the Conference of Circuit Judges and has also lectured to the Dade County Defense Bar Association, the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office and to private law firms.
